How Long Are We Going To Let the Middle East Hold Us Hostage?

Published by beaconwriter at 11:38 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

No one in their right mind can say that we shouldn’t put our full creative energies into developing alternative energy sources to help us turn away from fossil fuels.  However, it is just as brainless to say that, in the meantime, we shouldn’t utilize our financial resources to develop our existing fossil fuel sources, as quickly as possible, to rid our dependency on the Middle East.  Environmentalists should be ignored on this sensitive issue.  Our stock market wobbles at the increase in oil prices, caused by the whim of our”friends?” the Saudis.  The cartel cuts back production because billions of dollars need to be tens of billions and  our cutback in use has hurt their profits.  If we began moving to drill offshore by building the platforms necessary, the price of oil would stabilize almost overnight.  Competition does that in a free market, it doesn’t do that in a virtual monopoly.  Of course, we could depend on Venezuela instead, right?

Within the last three years, we’ve had some of the worst hurricanes in our history pounding the gulf, with virtually no environmental impact due to oil rigs in the gulf, but the environmentalists say no, so our Democratic friends say no.  We have enough oil in our own territorial water and land mass to eliminate our use of Middle Eastern oil, if we chose to use it, but “no” we would rather be held hostage and send our financial resources outside our own country.  Obama says he wants to create jobs.  If we weren’t sending so much money overseas for oil, our economy would be stronger because those dollars could stay in our own country and be used in our own economy.  Drill now, commit to other resources like clean coal, nuclear power, wind, solar and anything else we can utilize but drill now and stop this foolishness before it contributes to stopping us.

Don’t worry, Action Obama is going to go over there and talk them into giving us their oil out of the goodness of their hearts, or he’ll pistol whip them until they see our point of view.

I wonder if this comment makes it live as my comment about Bush not exactly being a tyrant didn’t seem to pass the ideological muster here. Does sarcasm fly around here?
